Less than 3 months!

So a couple things this past weekend made the fact that I'm getting married soon that much more real for me! I mean I have had it in my head for the past 9 months (since the day we got engaged) that I will have a husband come June, but it is really starting to sink in! And I couldn't be more excited!!!

Case in point...my mom was on Spring Break all last week and we went to Northpark to do some shopping together! Our main goal was dresses. She already has her beautiful "mother of the bride" dress and a couple shower dresses, so we were mainly looking for me. Well after 9 stressful hours of trying on what felt like 100's of dresses we had success! We left with 4 dresses! Anthropologie and Black House/White Market are both a little richer now b/c of us. So now I have my bridal luncheon, rehearsal dinner, and 2 shower dresses!!! I know it's just a dress but when I look at it I'm thinking "Oh my gosh that is the dress that I am going to be wearing to my rehearsal dinner!!!!" This excitement is just bursting inside me! I brought them all over to the fiance's and proceeded to take each one out and label it by name... "This is the "Sister Friend" shower dress, this is the "Lamplighter" shower dress, this is the bridal luncheon dress that the "Tiara's" are throwing me and the bridesmaids, and this is the rehearsal/rehearsal dinner dress!" Let me explain...

Sister Friends- my mom's wonderful co-workers @ Wood elementary
Lamplighter's- my parents Sunday School class that they have been involved in for 25+ yrs
Tiara's- group of my mom's friends who all have Korean adopted children (like my mom!) and get together frequently for weekend road trips and wine

Yes I am very blessed to have such involved parents whose friends never cease to amaze me with their generosity and selflessness! They have completely bombarded my mom asking to help with wedding stuff and planning! We are so thankful!

Anyways...fiance loved ALL the dresses and couldn't pick a favorite b/c he loved them all so much! I even found a cute shirt to wear for our engagement pics coming up next month (I know I'm a little late taking these but I didn't want wintery pics and I couldn't get my act together last summer after we got engaged!)

So another fun wedding thing this weekend was my registry! My mom had told me that I needed to for sure finalize everything and not change anything else since the "Lamplighter" invitations went out today! So Saturday night I go to look everything over. I'm perusing the Bed Bath and Beyond one and all of a sudden I see the word "fullfilled!" I screamed as a realized this was the first time something had been bought off of our registry!!! And it was the Kitchenaid Artisan 5 quart stand mixer I have been drooling over!!!! OH MY GOSH!!! And then I saw a 2nd "fulfilled" and it was our toaster!!!! Fiance was very excited too! Little moments like this just seem to make it that much more real! I can't wait for what's to come!

We had a great Easter! It seems like it was the first holiday that I didn't have to work the night before or the night of. It was really nice to not be thinking "Oh my gosh how am I going to work tonight on no sleep!". We went to church with my parents and then ate with them. Then met up with everybody on the Herrell side in Azle and ate some more!

Easter pics...

I got to see my 2 furry children! Mr. Lilly and Sierra are both staying with my parents during the house building processes. Much more room for them over there plus Lilly has several playmates over there. Had to do my motherly duties and clip Sierra's nails. She had "girlfriend" nails, they were soooo long! sidenote: no harm was done to Sierra during her nail trimmings, that is the only way to hold her so she'll stay still!
Well it is a beautiful day in Dallas today! When Andrew gets off work we are going for a bikeride!

Marchin for the Babies!

A couple girls and I are getting together to join the Presby team which will be walking in the Dallas March of Dimes walk on April 19 at White Rock Lake! The March of Dimes is an amazing and well known organization dedicated to "improving the health of babies by preventing pre-term birth defects, premature births, and infant mortalilty". This really hits so close to home for us! We spend so many days, weeks, and months with amazing women helping them to have successful pregnancies! The preterm deliveries we typically see result from diagnosis' such as preterm labor, pregnancy induced hypertension, and multiple gestation pregnancies. I am very lucky to work with such a passionate group of people who share my same love for this unique branch of health care. Perot 4 North @ Presby Dallas is a very special floor! We have so many wonderful success stories with our sweet patients! The greatest gift my job can offer me is to see mom, baby(ies), and the rest of the family start a happy, long life at home together. I have been so blessed to be a part of these families lives. Please join me in supporting the March of Dimes by donating to my goal of $100. Even $1.oo helps! THANK YOU!!!!!

Rainy Day

What a rainy day! I mean torential! I ventured out to run errands since I work the next 2 nights and got drenched!!! I have been debating adding Waterford to our registry for some time. I come from a mom who is obsessed with Waterford as well as all her friends! Holiday and birthday gifts with her and her friends frequently consist of a new Waterford piece. It is just so expensive though!!! I didn't think I could justify asking guests to spend that much! So I opted out of the Waterford. But I have been recently debating it again and have come up with a compromise. I LOVE the place settings we picked @ Crate and Barrel and they can totally be used for both every day and elegant meals. So I have decided I don't need fancy place settings. But I DO need fancy glasses to dress up the table! Sooooo....(I promise I'm getting to a point), I added the Lismore Nouveau iced beverage glasses!!!! I am very excited about them! I did most of my research online , so I went to Bed Bath and Beyond this morning to check out the real thing! Yup, still love 'em! Fiance approves too. I'm glad I changed my mind, b/c my 1st round of shower invites apparently go out next week! :)

Our Mexico trip for James and Nancy's wedding is 2 weeks from tomorrow!!! Hit up Target also this morning and was very impressed with the swimsuit selection so I got 3!!! Along with some cute beachy type dresses! We need a vacation so badly! Neither of us has taken any time off since last May so we would be able to afford to go!

The guestbook arrived and it's perfect! Just how I thought it would be! Alright, going to try to get some sleep before work!

Yay for monograms!

7. You wash your hands BEFORE you go to the bathroom.
8. You believe that any job where you can go to work in your pjs is a cool one.
9. You consider a tongue depressor an eating utensil.
10. Eating microwave popcorn out of an unsused bedpan is perfectly natural.
11. You've been exposed to so many xrays you consider it a form of birth control.
12. You've ever heard a pt with a nose ring, a brow ring, and twelve earrings say, "I'm afraid of shots." (Same goes for women who have just given birth in reference to the tape on their arm getting removed. I mean, seriously? You've just given birth and tape removal causes you to scream?)
13. You've ever told a confused pt that your name is that of a coworker and to call if they need help.
14. Your bladder can expand to the size of a winnebago's water tank.
15. You have seen more penises than any prostitute could dream of. (And in my case, more boobs than any man could dream of!)
16. You believe that not all patients are annoying...some are unconcious.
17. Your family and friends refuse to watch medical sitcoms with you b/c you spend the whole time correcting everyone and pointing out upside down xrays (I mean, I cant help it that Izzie has her stethescope in her ears backwards everytime she uses it!)
18. You don't get excited about blood...unless it's your own.
19. You've sworn to have "Do Not Resuscitate" on your chest. Soon.
20. Discussing dismemberment over a gourmet meal is prefectly normal to you.
21. Your idea of fine dining is anywhere you can sit down to eat.
22. Your idea of a good time is a cardiac arrest at shift change.
23. You believe in the aerial spraying of Prozac.
24. You believe that Shallow Gene Pool should be a recognized diagnosis.
25. You believe that the government should require permits to reproduce.
26. You've ever had to leave a pt's room before you began to laugh uncontrollably,
Add on...27. If you are posting on your blog at 0309, then you might be a nurse. :)

Just HAD to repost this. I can successfully say I know a thing or two about a good portion of this list! I LOVE MY JOB!!!

We drove by our lot the other day and our "sold" sign was FINALLY UP! YAY!!!

Whirlwind Weather Week!

What a week in weather we had! I have always been obsessed with weather so the happenings this week were right up my alley. Monday night Maria and I had dinner at Cheesecake Factory to catch up on life and it snowed the whole time! Those big huge flakes too! I wished I had my camera, but Andrew had taken it to California with him. Then at work on Thursday night (between watching 6 episodes of Lost with Columbia...yea it was a slow night!) we realized it was snowing again! We ran out a little emergency exit door I never even knew we had and stood in a stairwell with a giant view of the dart rail and 75 and watched an amazing snow storm at 3 am! It was really fun until we started freezing and then realized we were locked in the stairwell! Thank goodness one of the techs heard us banging on the door! I came home the next morning to a winter wonderland!

Please excuse the post 12 hour work night hair!

Right now we have a patient whose husband works at Celebrity Bakery! Do you know what that means for us? It means cookies the first night, brownies and cinnamon rolls the next, and then last night muffins! It has been a very tasty week! I worked extra last night so hello bonus shift! Going shopping soon to start getting all my shower dresses since my showers start up next month!!!!!! I CAN'T WAIT!

Today is a lazy day b/c I am recovering from my 4 shifts this week and I am tired!

Guestbook...check!

Major accomplishment of the day...I ordered our guestbook! I love it and it is going to look so awesome in our new house! Found some pictures of them on the Knot and then googled my heart out for an hour before I finally found the company that makes them! Success! I picked the chocolate brown and pretty green with the block style H. Our names and the date will be under the monogram! I can't wait to get it!

I'm a designer!

We had the pleasure of having our first 2 appointments at the new Grand home design center! Apparently they have put 5 MILLION dollars into it and you could definitly tell! I spent half the time admiring everything and had trouble staying on task at times! 5 hours the first day and 2 1/2 hours the second day and we are almost done! The goal is for it to be out of architecture by the end of the month so that the slab can be poured by early April! Our first "team meeting" is coming up!

The model kitchens were amazing...

Showcasing our front door!

So many choices!!!

Partaked in James and Nancy's fiesta couples shower last saturday night. These crazy fun friends of ours are getting married April 2 in the Maya Riviera, Mexico!!! And we are going!!! Unfortunatly pretty much everyone in attendance at the shower ended up getting food poisoning! NOT FUN!!!!!

Little sister Abby turned 22 on March 1. Enjoyed a fantastic meal at Steak and Ale with the fam. Mom&Dad actually wanted to come out with us after! We couldn't turn them down! Ended up at the Londoner in Addison. Got a nice cozy table in the corner and had some drinks and great conversation! It's sad when you leave the bar before your parents!

Our spring softball season starts this week! Sad I can't play wed night b/c i have to work! :(
