Target Convo

We made it to 34 weeks praise the Lord!!!! I have been able to be up more and will be going back to work in a little less than 2 weeks! I've been able to run a few errands here and there and it seems people are noticing the belly more and more! It's so fun! Here's a convo I had at Target a few days ago...

me: walks up to register and starts to unload cart

Target lady: "Whoaaaa!"

me: to myself (is she talking about my groceries or my belly?)

Target lady: "You've dropped!!!"

me: to myself (what? How can she tell? I've never seen her before!)

Target lady: "Looks like it'll be any day! When are you due?

me: "six weeks from now. April 2"

Target lady: "Well it'll be sooner rather than later"

me: "Well hopefully not too soon! I've been on bedrest for the past 2 weeks for contractions. Hopefully she'll hold out a few more weeks!"

Target lady: "Well rest assured...if it happens at Target, I am perfectly adept at handling the situation!"

So if I go into labor at Target, we've got it covered!!!

But seriously, I enjoy having these little conversations here and there with perfect strangers about our baby! It's fun seeing how excited people get about new life! I want to share our daughter with the world!!! I'm so excited about her!

35 weeks tomorrow! I have been doing good contraction wise until last night. I made us some dinner and then sat down and they were every few minutes or so! I chugged 3 pitchers of water and layed down. Andrew got home and I seriously thought we were going to be calling the on-call doc. I even called my unit to see who was on. But after about 2 hours they spaced back out. I had to eat dinner laying down...that was interesting! Am I going to just blow once I go back to work? We will see!

Oh and I just have to share this. My mom's friend Aunt Kelly called on Tuesday night and insisted that she was going to bring Andrew and I dinner! I had some ingredients to cook dinner, but it was just one of those days where I just didn't feel like it! My back had been hurting all day and I'm just generally getting more uncomfortable! So it was a perfect night for dinner to be provided for us! So she showed up around 6:30 with a huge bag FULL of food! We had homemade stuffed pork tenderloin, these yummy seasoned green beans, roasted potatoes, rolls, and EASTER CANDY!!!! It was soooooo good! But what made it even better was that someone took time out of their day to do this for us! I was just thinking about how much it meant to us for her to do that. We will definitley try to "pay it forward" someday! Also in the bag was a little box with 2 precious baby girl outfits and a funky hairbow clip! Aunt Kelly is too much!!!! I'm so thankful for her!

Goodies!

So I am still on bedrest until tomorrow when I hit 34 weeks! I can start doing more stuff after then like run an errand, go to the movies, etc. And then at 36 weeks I can go back to work b/c if she makes her debut any time after then we are golden for a healthy baby! So for the past 2 weeks I have been taking it easy for the first time in my life! What an amazing husband I have been blessed with. He has completely taken over all the household chores, grocery shopping, cooking etc! He won't let me do a thing! I'm a lucky girl. I got permission to go to our labor in a day class on Sunday at this hospital. Andrew had to go to baby care class all by himself on Monday and Tuesday night! I felt so bad, but we already missed the first one we scheduled due to being in triage. I was worried time would get away and we wouldn't get to take it or get a refund! Andrew graciously offered to go by himself! What a man!!! He was the only guy there by himself! He learned alot and has enjoyed relaying everything back to me.

I have been blessed to have been brought lunch 2 days in a row this week! April came over on Wednesday and brought chick-fil-a! We watched The Time Traveler's Wife and got to catch up on life. She brought Reese the cutest little bloomers! It's funny b/c I had been looking online for something like this recently!

My mom's friend Kelly who we call "Aunt Kelly" came over today with La Madeline! She came bearing gifts too! She brought Reese the sweetest little blanket, gown, and hat set! She will be so precious in them!

And here is our glider! We ordered it about a month ago and it came in the other day! It is so comfy and will be nice to relax in once she's here and up all night!

These pics were taken with our new camera! We got a canon rebel! I'm slowly learning how it works! It's so much more complicated then our point and shoot!

Dallas Blizzard 2010 + Bedrest

Here's the latest...at our appt on Tuesday(after being on bedrest all weekend) I was having maybe 1-2 ctx an hour. The dr was ok with me going to work on thursday night as long as I wasn't having the frequent ctx like I was on Friday night. He said he would write me a note right then and there to not work though if that's what I wanted. Basically giving me the decision. He said if I start ctx at work thurs night to either go home or go to triage. So Wednesday was really the first day I was out and about. I had lunch with Jenny at Celebrity Bakery. I then went to Hobby Lobby and Target and then Andrew and I met some friends at TinStar for family dinner night. On the way to TinStar I started noticing the ctx picking up and by the time we were eating they were every 5 minutes or so. These ctx were also slightly more uncomfortable than the ones last week. More crampy than last time plus the back pain. So we ate fast and hightailed it home where I drank a bunch of water and layed down. They spaced back out to what seems like my baseline of 1 or 2 an hour. I slept good, but woke up to more than usual which went away after I chugged some more water.

Soooo.....all day Thursday I was like What do I do!!!! I pretty much knew that working 3 twelve hour night shifts was probably not a smart decision. Actually more like a stupid decision. I have such a hard time calling in and feel so guilty! I haven't called in in almost a year! It's like I needed someone to tell me what to do. I prayed about it and decided to call the office. I talked to the nurse and explained the situation. She immediately told me that I'm not working especially since I can't even run a few errands without ctx. I am back on bedrest for the time being and if I go back to work it won't be until 35-36 weeks. I go see Dr B on Tuesday (I saw his partner this past Tues) and we'll go from there. So the bottom line is it's better to be safe then sorry. I would never forgive myself if I had gone to work all weekend and ended up delivering her. I'm glad I am being forced to slow down b/c apparently it's hard for me to make that call myself!

Moving on...

It has been a winter wonderland in DFW! It started snowing late Wednesday night and didn't stop until late Thursday night! This is when we woke up Thursday morning...

Later in the day...

We watched the snow all day in bed and watched movies!

This is Friday morning after it finally stopped snowing!

How fun will it be next year when I have a little Reese to take out in the snow to play! Who knows if we'll ever get snow like this again though! I don't think I've ever seen it like this here!

32 week pic, but 33 weeks today!

1st baby shower!

We had a great first shower last weekend!!! It was at Mrs Brassell's house and was hosted by 7 wonderful ladies! So many people came! Baby Reese was very spoiled! She received many wonderful gifts including her pack 'n play, crib mattress, bathtub, exersaucer, jumparoo, a tutu, precious little shoes, and some fun personalized things like burp clothes and blankets! It's fun seeing her name on stuff! We are so greatful for all these wonderful people who want to help us celebrate our daughter!

her loot! We had so much fun playing with it!

Husband came at the end to see everyone!

the tutu! It was a hit with everyone!

Grammee and Nanny

Aunt Babs came all the way from STL!

First scare!

Well after a textbook first 7 months we had our first scare. At 28 weeks I started having what I would call "braxton hicks" contractions. They don't hurt and honestly some days I don't even notice them at all. Well the last few days I had noticed quite an increase in the contractions. They still didn't hurt except for a little discomfort in my back. Well yesterday(friday) on the day I turned 32 weeks they just weren't going away even after I drank 4 pitchers of water! It probably didn't help that I cleaned most of the house that morning. So Andrew got home from work around noon and we were going to go shopping for Reese's curtains. I was feeling uneasy about the amount of ctx I was having even though they still weren't hurting. We decided to call the office and they said to come in and I could see the on call MD. So we jumped into the car and headed the hospital (MD office is in hospital). I am in the middle of an 8 day off streak from work and was hoping to avoid Presby!

Anyways, so we walk into the waiting room and the receptionist tells us that he wants me to go to triage and be monitored! I was like "WHAAAT!" I honestly thought we'd do a quick cervical length check in the office and everything would be fine and we'd be on our merry way to lunch and curtain shopping. So down to L&D we go and get checked in. I was not prepared to have to go to L&D!!! I was praying I would have a nurse that I knew! Thankfully Heather was my nurse and I changed into the gown and got hooked up to the monitors. Reese looked great and my ctx were every 2-3 minutes!!! Still not hurting though. So I had to get the dreaded terb shot. The one I give on my unit!!!! It was very crazy and surreal being on the other side of things! So the terb worked at first. The ctx spaced out to like every 6 minutes and then picked right up again. By then my pulse was 130! I can definitely sympathize with the patients I give terb b/c it is not fun!!! I felt so anxious and redfaced, like I was about to have a panic attack! My pulse stayed above 120 so I could not get the needed 2nd dose of terb. So i got a dose of procardia instead. She also did a FFN to see if labor was probable in the next 2 weeks or so (results were neg). While the procardia was kicking in Lily came down to see me from my unit! I think that really helped distract Andrew and I! She got to wheel me to sono.

Good news is that my cervix is 32 mm so all the ctx weren't shortening it any more. We also got to see the baby!!! She was going crazy from the terb! We got the cutest shot of her profile. We saw her opening her eyes and mouth and even "practice" breathing. And she is huge! Baby Reese now weighs 4 lbs 11 oz! Everything looked great on the sono and they saw no reason as to why I was having so many ctx.

Precious Foot

So I get wheeled back to triage and put back on the monitors. Still having the ctx although they are not as frequent. Well my pulse was still over 120 so Dr R decided to give me a bag of fluid so I had to get an IV. BOO!!! I can start IV's till kindom come but am the worst receiver of the IV. Heather was amazing and it was probably my best IV ever even though it was the dreaded 18g! So once the bag is almost done, my ctx are finally fizzling out. I think the procardia had kicked in by then too. Dr R came and saw me and said I could go home or I could be admitted to MY OWN UNIT for the night! I was like "hmmm...I'll go home!" Basically I am on bedrest for the weekend until my appointment Tues and we'll go from there. So we got to leave around 7 pm. Neither of us had had lunch so we stopped and got Flying Fish (mmmmm catfish) on the way home. We ate dinner on the couch and I was out by 9:30.

I've only felt a few sporadic ctx today. I have been spending the day in bed watching movies. My personal slave (i.e. husband) has been wonderful!!! He got me donuts and movies! I'm all set up with my laptop, snacks, water, gatorade, and remotes in bed. I also have a cat laying across my legs! It's nice to be forced to relax! I think I have been overdoing it the past week or so!

I'm so thankful Baby Reese is staying in to cook longer! Just 5 more weeks and she will be full term! I also got a package in the mail today! Burp cloths, a changing pad cover and a pretty blanket from my mom's friend who was unable to attend my shower last week! So fun!
